Jewellery and Object
Akie Haga creates distinctive glass jewellery—necklaces, earrings, and rings—that celebrate individuality and the expressive potential of the material. Each piece is delicately flameworked by hand, combining bold form with fine detail to capture organic beauty and personal meaning.

Akie Haga has over 25 years of experience working with glass, specialising in flameworking to create detailed and delicate forms. Her practice explores the interplay of line, pattern, and structure, shaped through an intuitive, hands-on process. Guided by the movement of heat and flame, she balances precision with spontaneity in each piece.
Akie draws on her Japanese heritage and formal art education in the UK and Australia to inform her practice, developing a visual language that bridges tradition and experimentation.
Since 2006, she has run a private studio, creating wearable art—unique pieces that invite the audience to embrace their individuality and express their personal narratives—as well as small-scale sculptures inspired by organic forms and nature. Her work is held in galleries and private collections. She also teaches at Canberra Glassworks, offering flameworking instruction and technical support for artists working in other media.
