Kirstin Guenther Artist

Textiles

Kirstin’s textile works look at the natural world, from the microscopic building blocks to shapes, forms, flora and fauna that inspire. She re-interprets these concepts into artworks and sustainable products, such as hemp t-towels, linen tote-bags and silk curtaining, to inspire and bring joy to our everyday life.

Kirstin Guenther is an artist who searches for the esoteric beauty and meaning in everyday life. Kirstin’s art practice is motivated by expressing beauty and connections between humanity and equality, psychology and spirituality, science and nature and how these ideas intersect.

Kirstin’s work is focussed intellectually and visually on the connection between the building blocks of the natural world, the beauty of space and time, luminosity and shadow, transparency and opacity…what we see and what is hidden. She works in multiple mediums including fabric, paper, ink, oil pastel and markers.

‘There is so much that remains mysterious in our world, in ourselves and how we see our place within and without.’

Kirstin lives and works in suburban Canberra with her husband, two adult children, two dogs and three cats, 6 chooks and a hive of bees.
